Harp’s a Breeze proudly offers cultural music incursions within schools, promoting the versatility of the harmonica. These school incursions are a fantastic way to teach children the importance of live music from particular parts of the globe, and they act as the perfect addition to language weeks, cultural days and regular incursions, or even as schoolyard performances.
If your school teaches languages including Italian, Spanish or German, our team of musicians are some of the best in town with genuine connections to their styles of world-music and will take students on a sonic journey to their homeland whilst providing a history of their roots.
These performance-based incursions are informative, unique & authentic, all the while offering a wonderful opportunity for students to interact through song and dance.
Italian
CHE BANDA! are a fantastically unique group which take students on a wonderful orchestrated journey through the heart of Italy. Their musical performances follow adventurous storylines that take the audience across an ancient land graced with medieval country roads and some of the world’s most iconic landmarks. CHE BANDA! incorporates the authentic Italian language with song and dance, offering students of all ages an insight into the everyday Italian lifestyle and a culture which has greatly influenced modern-day Australia. Spanish
Tango Mood are a Melbourne-based band who specialise in folkloric music from Argentina. Their school performances are a fantastic way to teach children the art & emotion of dance, and their powerful traditional drums create a jaw-dropping experience for students. Tango Mood’s performance is offered as a bilingual show for Spanish students of all ages.
German
Benji’s Musikhaus is an awesome event curated by one of Germany’s leading guitarists, Benjamin Attiche (aka Benji). Since migrating to Australia from Berlin in 2018, Benji has been wowing audiences with his virtuosity, all the while offering a fantastic view into the musical culture of his homeland, Germany. Benji has toured his music and school performances across Europe and South America, and Harp’s a Breeze are very excited to collaborate with him.
New Orleans
Southern Dance Party are a team of professional instrumentalists who thrive on playing energetic music from the home of all things funky, New Orleans. This fun & exciting band takes over schools the moment they step in, and they love teaching students all about their favourite instruments and how they helped shape popular music as we know it today. Their quintessential Dixieland song selection from the 1920’s allows school students to connect with the sounds of old-world popular music. Who knows, there might even be a few current hits played in proper vintage style. Get those dance shoes shining because the Southern Dance Party is full of energy!
